Several new non-teaching professionals have joined the Student Guidance team and there are others who will be taking up posts in the near future.  They will work alongside experienced teachers providing student support.

Other types of support are in place to which we may refer students if the need arises. These include St Ambrose Centre, the Nurse Drop-in Centre, regular visits from a trained Counsellor and a support group wich targets underachievers.

Academic subject concerns will be dealt with by your child’s subject teachers or subject leader.  Pastoral issues or general pupil progress will be dealt with in the first instance by your child’s Form Tutor, a Student Guidance Keyworker, Assistant Director of Key Stage or Director of Key Stage.

I appreciate that it can often be difficult to contact the most appropriate person due to their teaching commitments and, in order to ensure effective communication, a nominated Student Guidance Keyworker will be available every morning between 8.30 a.m. and 10.00 a.m. to take your telephone calls.  Wherever possible they will deal with any concerns or queries or pass them onto the most appropriate person to deal with at the earliest opportunity.

The nominated Student Guidance staff are:

K.S.3 (Y7-9)           Mr B. Wheller

K.S.4 (Y10-11)        Mrs. M. Sinclair

Sixth Form               Mrs. C. Dainty

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any clarification with regard to these revised systems.
